Fall Colour Pix

Here are some of ours from last weekend's trip. We didn't know it was Columbus day weekend in the States. We had no trouble finding a place to stay Friday night. Saturday was another story. At around 6 we started to look for a place to stay. They should have had to put up a sign, "Sorry Vermont is full". Ditto for Connecticut. When we asked if there was any place they'd recommend, the reply was "no where for at least 150 miles!" We tried Quebec and got the same story. Finally around 1:30am we found a place in the entertainment district of Sherbrooke. Can't say we were THAT impressed with the colours in the states but then again it was dark for most of the driving....We visited friends in Montreal Sunday/Monday which worked out nicely.

Back from the 'Peg! And Fall Photo Links...

I'm responding to David's challenge, and I *LOVE* to do fall photos, but watch out: Dad just came back from New Hampshire with FIVE FILMS OF FALL...

Anyway, while in the 'Peg, I briefed the Manitoba Aerospace Industry, including Linda Laz, whose company makes uniforms to identify and protect working K9 officers; attended the Aerospace Industry awards dinner (very funny picture of Standard Aero's president, Paul Soubry, presenting an award in absentia to association champion Ken Carr: they patched him in by phone, stuffed his flight suit and had a "Ken Doll" sitting on a chair on stage for the presentation!), had an evening out with longtime friend John Robinson, was shown around town on a beautiful fall afternoon by my friend Leslie Wilder after spending some time as a guest with her international students at Red River College...visited the Composites Innovation Centre with my new friends Genevieve Jones and Jacinthe Blab.

Photos record the entirely new buffalo who followed me home: airport security in Montreal stopped me and insisted in providing him with a boarding pass. Unique billboards greet visitors to Washington National Airport...

First Sign of Fall in the City

A contribution to the fall spectacular.
This view shows that even trees in downtown Toronto know that fall is coming. The yellow one was spectacular in an afternoon sun. We'll see if the green one turns wonderfully red.

Birthday Present!

I got my birthday present! A set of CD's of how to do odd little things. Juggling, poker chip shuffling, skateboard stunts (I'll leave those to Simon) etc. Cool, fun. Thanks! :-)

Then the important part!

Then there was the best part of all...visiting Woolley Ones! (Note the fine Birthday T-Shirt and the excellent collection of bed-heads at 6:45 am just before I departed on Sunday the 24th...seems like forever ago...) .

Do note, in the centre frame, a determined expression that I expect we will see a lot more of in the next twenty years...


I have no pictures -- yet, at any rate, of my trip to New York. In part, we weren't allowed to take any pictures of the sessions where we met producers and writers, and in part I was too intensely focused on what I was there to do (just that) than to change gears and be my own recording angel. But I did meet some fabulous new girlfriends, and just maybe they will forward theirs.

But here's one of me and Dad, who came out to hear me speak on Excellence in Entrepreneurship in Oakville on the 23rd of September...
And one of me at a site visit with one of my new clients, Defence R&D Canada (for whom I am a subcontractor doing business development for their human sciences team near Downsview)



and me doing another site visit and handling ACTUAL PRODUCTS (which I hardly ever get to do) of a Canadian company in Don Mills, Conros, who makes all the mailing supplies that the US Postal Service sells in its retail outlets. Imagine that! Who knew? Watch for the one-hand-bandit tape dispenser! Much nicer than those very dangerous tape guns!
